Dues and Fees

What does it cost to be a New Cub Scout? 

Cub Scouts are part of the Scouting America. To stay associated with Scouts America and continue to run our program, we must send a part of what we collect straight to Scouting America to cover the organizational expenses. Only a portion of what we collect stays with the pack. Our Pack Dues cover: den meeting materials, rank advancement rewards, advancement badges, pinewood derby cars and awards, blue and gold celebration, pack outings, camp outs, etc. (see full list of covered outings attached). 

We are all volunteers here and can’t do what we do without help and collecting pack dues.

Pack Dues — What do the cover? 

The pack dues that are collected at the beginning of the school year have a purpose behind them. The dues help cover the costs that are generated while running the pack and offset some of the repetitive out-of-pocket costs to scout families. Our goal is to cover all the items below for your scout without extra cost to you. 

Conversely, the dues only cover the scout.  If a sibling or a family member partakes in an activity, there could be an extra charge per person. For example, family camp; the registered scout’s food would be covered if their dues are paid in full, but we would need to collect a fee for each extra family member that attends to cover the food. 

Below is the list of items and activities that are covered by pack dues: 

• Materials for den meetings and pack nights Cub Scout advancement awards 

• Pinewood Derby supplies and awards 

• Pack Outings 

• Fall - Pack Family Camp Out 

• Spring — Pack Family Camp Out 

• Summer Day Camp

• Class B T-Shirt

• Scout Handbooks

There are other activities that the Scouting America invites us to that don’t always align with what the Cubs Scouts have planned, but families are welcome to attend those at their own expense. Examples are listed below: 

• Uniform

• Snacks/Food for den or pack meetings/activities

• Snow Capades in Cascade ID - Winter Activity

• Other — Activities not listed above
