Scouting America use uniforms and insignia to give a Scout visibility and create a level of identity within both the unit and the community. The uniform is used to promote equality while showing individual achievement.
Lion: Lions wear a distinctive blue T-shirt featuring a large Lion rank emblem and "LION" text, paired with navy blue shorts or skorts. Their uniform includes an official Lion cap and an optional yellow neckerchief with a matching slide.
Tiger, Wolf, Bear, and Webelos: These ranks wear a navy blue button-up shirt with navy blue pants, shorts, skorts, or roll-up pants, along with a navy blue web belt featuring a brass buckle with the Cub Scout logo. The neckerchief, hat, and slide change each year, featuring a unique color and logo for each level: Orange for Tiger, Red for Wolf, Light Blue for Bear and Plaid (Tartan) for Webelos. Some Cub Scouts also wear navy blue socks with tops matching their rank’s color.
Arrow of Light: Their uniform closely resembles that of the Troop level of Scouts America, consisting of a tan shirt with green shorts, long pants, or skorts, along with a green belt. Unlike Scouts America, members who wear green shoulder loops, Arrow of Light Scouts wear blue shoulder loops.

Cub Scout handbooks are essential guides that help Scouts navigate their journey through the program. Each rank has its own handbook filled with engaging activities, character-building lessons, and outdoor adventures. These handbooks serve as a roadmap for both Scouts and their families, ensuring that everyone understands the requirements needed to earn badges and advance in rank.
Inside each handbook, Scouts will find fun and educational activities that promote teamwork, leadership, and personal growth. The lessons cover a wide range of topics, including outdoor skills, community service, citizenship, and STEM-related challenges. The handbooks also encourage family involvement, providing parents and guardians with clear guidance on how to support their Scout’s progress. Whether it’s learning how to tie knots, perform acts of kindness, or explore nature, the handbook offers step-by-step instructions to make every experience meaningful and enjoyable.
Cub Scout handbooks and uniforms can be picked up at your Mountain West Council Boise Scout Shop. The shop carries handbooks for every Cub Scout rank, along with official uniforms, badges, and accessories to ensure your Scout is ready for their next adventure.
